Cities of Night

What comes to your mind when you think of the word "night?"
Darkness? Sleep?
Is "night" beautiful and bright to you?
To me, it is. Especially when I think of the beautiful night views I saw in many different cities.

When we talk about night views, New York and Hong Kong comes to mind.
When I went to those cities, I was amazed. What I saw was exactly what I expected it should be! I recommend you go to New York or Hongkong with your lover. I bet you'll find that its night view is very romantic.

When I saw the Moon hanging in the sky among the high-rises,
I thought of the song "Arthur's Theme" by Paris Match.

If you get caught between the Moon and New York City,
the best that you can do,
the best that you can do is fall in love.

A Symphony of Lights
You can enjoy this beautiful laser show at 8 p.m. every night in Hong Kong.

Compared to New York and Hong Kong, Paris doesn't have many high-rises and flashing buildings. However, the night of Paris is still very special because of its iconic structure.

This beautiful light show is a nightly event and
five thousand light bulbs on each side of the tower sparkle
for 5 minutes every hour on the hour until 1 a.m.

L.A. has its own unique night view. Since the city doesn't have many tall buildings, the roads stretch as far as you can see.

The night view from the observatory is amazing,
and parking and admission to the observatory are free!

Atlanta is not as famous as the cities above, but its night views are also amazing. The best place you can go to in order to enjoy the view of Atlanta is The Sun Dial Bar at the top of the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. The cocktails there might be a little bit expensive, but they're worth it!

The bar revolves 360 degrees, so you can enjoy a full view of the city.

I love traveling, but I still love the city I'm from. The night view that I enjoyed every day from my apartment (before I came to Atlanta) were always fantastic, and I sometimes miss them.

One night, I looked out the window, and I saw fireworks going off.

It's impossible to decide which city has the best night view. Every city has its own color at night.
What about you? Do you have your own favorite city of night?

  1. Dear Cancion! I am in awe of the photos that you have posted on this blog entry! It has made me feel excited, and makes me want to get on a plane and travel tonight to a distant and amazing city! Or go up to the top of a tall building in Atlanta and have a drink!

I am drawn in to your photographs because of the darkness, the glittering lights, and the perspective from which you are viewing and photographing them. Lovely!

My favorite photo is the glittering Eiffel Tower!I want to know how you did that! For me, a city at night...which one would it be? You will laugh, but it will small cities close to the ocean. Like Kaikura, New Zealand, where my husband and I sat on the roof of a small town and watched all the shopkeepers close up their stores and walk to the bar. The sun set on the ocean, where we had watched whales breaking the surface and seen large pods of dolphins. It felt wonderful to watch the small town along the sea.

    1. I am happy that you like my photos and the night views of those cities. The glittering Eiffel Tower is even more beautiful if you see it in person. I hoped I could capture the beautiful scene as best as I could, so I took several pictures and combined them into one GIf file using Adobe Photoshop.
I've never been to New Zealand, but when I pictured the image of whales and dolphins with peaceful sunset, I already fell in love with the city. Thank you for telling me about your beautiful memory.
